Plan for New Administrator - Not!

4/6/12

It's one month since former Administrator Heck announced he was leaving Shorewood's employ. Since then, there have been two Council Meetings yet, no plan to replace Heck has been unveiled by the Mayor.

The Insider sees that the subject of replacement is not on the agenda for the 4/9 council meeting. So, what is Mayor Lizee planning? The Insider, not finding any mention of a plan or one forthcoming, fears the worst and so should residents of Shorewood.

Of course the important things like proclaiming Arbor Day in Shorewood are on the 9th agenda. First things always first!

Happy Reading!

  1. I tried to view the regular meeting packet to learn about the agenda item "Approval of Christmas Lake Access and AIS Prevention Agreements with the Christmas Lake Association and the Watershed District". Wanted to see how they would explain closing the barn door after the horse has already left on that item. Interestingly enough, it appears that someone forgot to pay the domain renewal fee for the city website and the whole site is down. Maybe that was the administrator's responsibility!

  2. You have nothing to fear. You may not like the method, but you have nothing to fear. When the mayor manipulates the council into hiring her unqualified relative for the job, then you have something to fear. That isn't going to happen. A qualified candidate will get the job. There is nothing to fear. You may not like the cost involved (nor should you have liked the cost of pushing Dawson out, as Woodruff's majority did four years ago) but you have nothing to fear. If you fear the hiring of a qualified city manager, you have far bigger problems.

  3. Since Mr. Brown has had on-the-job training and is already paid an administrator's salary, perhaps the Mayor's plan is to offer him the job on a permanent basis?

  4. Looking back through this blog, no other topic has elicited so much discussion as the firing of the administrator. Maybe people don't care that he was fired or what it costs in the end. Who knows?

But what probably has otherwise reasonable people fired up is the sense that they are being duped. Transparency and public process is a known cure for that problem, can anyone learn from this?
