Candidate Forum - Canceled

10/2/12

The City just sent out a bulletin announcing the League of Women Voters candidate forum planned for Wednesday night is canceled. The City's notice did not explain why. As soon as the Insider gets some detail as to why it was cancelled, you can read about it here.

Candidate information will be available on the Star and Tribune's website and in the Sun Sailor soon. Additionally, the LMCC is video taping individual candidate statements. These should be available on cable TV and on-line within one week. Watch the Insider for more details.

Happy Reading!

  1. I guess all the candidates that ran for office before 2012, and had to suffer through the forum, were fools.

Free pass goes to this year's candidates!

  2. Candidates have known since early September the date of this forum ... per the LWV website http://www.lwvsouthtonka.org/index.html here's the reason:

This forum has been CANCELLED and will not be rescheduled. Only one candidate was able to attend.

IMO ..All involved have known about this forum for at least a month .. if they don't care, they obviously aren't serious about the position and don't deserve a vote.

Only vote I'll be casting is for Woodruff.

    1. Guess hiding your political weaknesses from the public is the new trend. Now even some of those wanting to represent us in Senate Dist. 33 and State Rep. Dist. 33B won't be showing up for their forums either.

The Wayzata and Plymouth chapter of the League of Women Voters issued a statement earlier this week stating that Osmek initially accepted their invitation to participate but has "now declined to attend."

    2. The LWV may view these cancellations as being "non-partisan." In fact the LWV is allowing itself to be co-opted and on the road to impotency.

  3. This whole "election" is a big disappointment. We have no choices. Same old thing-friends and cronies.

I would never run for office here because I would have to go up against the "machine" in Shorewood. And I think it would be humiliating and a waste of time and money. It makes me sad to say that.

    1. Agreed. And this is why we will have the Love Dynasty for almost a generation.

  4. The arrogance of this new group is appalling. What plans do they have for Shorewood- er, I mean South Lake?
We can only hope Dick wins. Everyone who cares about an independent Shorewood should write in Pat Arnst for Mayor, and Laura Turgeon for the other council seat.
