City Administrator Search Is On!

10/24/12

Shorewood has launched a search for a new City Administrator. The opening was posted on the League of MN Cities website (see: http://lmc.org/page/1/city-jobs.jsp).

What caused this to happen now? There's no public information available to answer this. Maybe outgoing Mayor Lizee is trying to make a change while she can affect the choice?

Stay tuned.

  1. Was this discussed in public? It doesn't appear so. It had to be discussed somewhere. So were open meeting laws violated? Even if Council erred in thinking it was privileged information, which it is not, they still should have taken the vote to hire a new administrator publicly.

  2. It would seem that the "part time" interim administrator is doing a perfectly fine job. Why does the city think it needs someone full time? Mr. Joynes is a well seasoned and reasonable candidate. Or does he tell council things they DON"T want to hear?

  3. Why can't we just let this be until after the election and the new council is seated? To rush this through because the outgoing mayor has an axe to grind is troubling.

I think that no further new projects or hiring/firing should be undertaken until the new council is installed and has had time to review everything.

We seem to be lucky to have Mr. Joynes on staff right now so lets take advantage of his expertise and wisdom and at least wait until the new council is oriented before we start a purge that we may come to regret.

  4. Big minus: Mr. Jones doesn't attend Excelsior Chamber of Commerce meetings.

    1. Hope this comment is tongue-in-cheek. Mr. Joynes is only here 3-days a week and you think he should be spending time attending Chamber meetings vs. overseeing the day-to-day operations of the City? Seriously!

  5. People are fired in Shorewood for not attending Rotary or Chamber meetings.

  6. Yes, and isn't it unfortunate that council members put so much priority on this basically meaningless duty when we have other issues that demand time and analysis.
