Council Member Laura Hotvet is the new Excelsior Chamber of Commerce Director. Seems the job is awarded to a Shorewood resident since the previous director was also from Shorewood.
The Insider predicts that even more attention will be paid by Shorewood's Council to getting cosy with Excelsior and its businesses. After all, "it's our downtown."

I am certain that both Hotvet and Zerby will recuse themselves on issues concerning Shorewood aid to Excelsior through cooperative agreements and sweetheart deals. Shorewood has got to be paying for 40% of Excelsior's police service as it is.
ReplyDeleteChill, Insider! I know Laura Hotvet and I think she will be excellent in that position. Many people work adjacent to our community. Lucky her to find a job so close to home.

ReplyDeleteRecall that her predecessor announced to the entire nation that Excelsior is anti-business and will arbitrarily pick and choose which businesses it will deign to allow in one of its many, many, many vacant store fronts. Any reasonable business person would have crossed Excelsior off their list after that campaign. Yikes!

ReplyDeleteFortunately for Councilmembers, they are free to pursue whatever community organizations or professions meet their personal goals and objectives.
ReplyDeleteThey should also know when to draw the line between their personal passions and conflicts, thus not requiring city employees to participate in those organizations, and wisely removing themselves from discussion and votes that financially benefit their interests or employers.
